Born to Balance

I’m a Libra. You know, the scales? I used to think this meant that I was born to live a life of perfect balance. Yet, I figured I must have been born under the wrong sign, because my life never landed in that elusive “balanced” state. Having a big vision and the drive to deliver on it, I often would find myself exhausted, my focus fractured and my impact diminished from having given too much in too many places.

Innately curious, and a researcher at heart, I determined I would make my experience a laboratory for the exploration of my own potential. Turns out, I wasn’t born under the wrong sign—I just didn’t understand the natural laws of capacity-building and high performance.

The Sweet Spot of Potential

As an entrepreneur, triathlete, marathon runner, and self-proclaimed life “gamer” (bring on the challenge and the adventure!), I discovered that knowing how to be a “driver” is only half of the equation and “balance” isn’t actually about being in a “steady state.”

Just like muscles gain strength when they are first challenged by exertion and then allowed to rebuild, we increase our capacity when we’re willing to stretch past what we previously believed to be within our reach… and also allow ourselves the grace of recovering from that “stretch.”

Balance isn’t about being in a steady state and, in fact, “steady state” isn’t the state of highest potential. Balance is about masterfully and consciously oscillating between the goals that challenge us and the space to recover, repair and rebuild. Our inherent potential becomes accessible when focused action is paired with intentional recovery… the sum of which is the “balance point.”

Where Vision Meets Action

Courage is built through intentional mindsets, beliefs, support, and inspiration. Capacity is increased through energy-enhancing habits, action paired with inaction, effective systems, and sustainability.

.

As the fourth child and only daughter of a highly successful entrepreneur (my dad) and a highly creative writer (my mom), I have the blessing of having been role modeled the vision-to-action roadmap that begins with innovative thinking, big ideas, courageous leaps of faith, and daily tenacity.

I am uniquely positioned to identify with, as well as serve, both communities: advisors at the top of their game, and wealth inheritors who are determined to thrive. Supporting these two distinct groups with overlapping drives and interweaving paths is not only my Big Idea coming to life, it’s my honor.
