"Kristin is a coach in the very best sense of the word. I was a small child when the Korean War began, which is to say that I have lived a few years. I wondered what a much younger woman would be able to tell me. What I discovered is that Kristin doesn’t tell me anything. She listens. She listens with incredible concentration to everything I say. She hears my words and the feelings that lie behind the words, the feelings I often had not acknowledged. Then she asks questions about what she hears. Pretty soon I discover that I am answering my own questions, addressing my own needs. I am telling myself exactly what my next step is. The beautiful thing about a coach like Kristin is that she helps me hear myself. I am so pleased to share my experience on this page with others who may be interested in being coached."

Born To Balance
I’m a Libra. You know, the scales? I used to think this meant that I was born to live a life of balance. So how did I so often find myself exhausted having given too much in too many places? One day it dawned on me I wasn’t born to magically live a balanced life, but destined to consciously seek balance in my life. My task wasn’t to live free of chaos, but to find ways to maintain and rejuvenate my energy amidst the chaos.

|
Building Blocks
My drive to understand human health and balance in scientific as well as philosophical terms led me to a degree in Human Biology with minors in Chemistry and Wellness. My desire for the skills to bring this information to others led me to a combined masters degree in business and public health. Armed with a lot of theory, I spent a decade creating and implementing comprehensive worksite health and wellness programs for one university and several national corporations.

Working full-time as the director of a corporate wellness program, I discovered my energy grew each time I taught a class. And the real charge for me was working with individuals -- not something I often had the chance to do in the corporate world. My yearning for more one-on-one contact with those who were eager to improve their lives and their health led me to enroll in a comprehensive coach training program through Coach Training Alliance. I grew up in a family of entrepreneurs. The “safety” of the corporate world could not compete with the thrill of moving out on my own. Armed with a vision, coaching skills and a passion for partnering with my clients, I launched my own company.
|
An Incongruent Life
The evenings and weekends of many months passed while I energetically laid the building blocks to support my dream, while keeping my corporate day job. I was actually toeing the waters of this entrepreneurial life and loving every minute of it. The joy I got from working with clients kept me going at this frantic pace until…. it happened. My excitement waned, my passion flickered and I couldn’t find a creative or innovative thought in my head. Was I meant to be an entrepreneur?
|
Integration
Aha! A time of introspection revealed I had been consistently pulling on my initial inspiration to fuel the building of my vision, and had lost sight of the foundational elements of health that would continue to rejuvenate my own creative and energetic fires. Once I realized this I began consciously seeking balance, which included leaving my corporate position.

As the chaos I’d created by serving “double duty” cleared, I knew I’d discovered the niche where I would focus my coaching endeavors. The passion and focus that entrepreneurs inherently possess can be a double-edged sword—propelling them forward and driving them into the ground. I work in partnership with my clients to re-discover that sweet-spot where their skills and passion resonate.
